A “sequel” to our recent “Ex-Trump and DeSantis” article
Turns out Americans do want to heal our political traumatization.
Hi everyone!
I wanted to share with you something of a “sequel” to our recent “Ex-Trump and DeSantis” article; thanks to The New Republic for publishing our follow-up:
I Voted for Trump and DeSantis—and Now Regret It. Here’s How Democrats Can Appeal to Voters Like Me.
A quick update on happenings here at Listen. Lead. Unite.:
I am very happy to report that we continue to get noticed by major news networks; nonprofits dedicated to bipartisan outreach and collaboration; and community, educational, artistic and religious leaders. This is a testament to all of YOUR support and advocacy for healing America’s political traumatization, for which I am humbly grateful.
A preview of our next published work: The political right believes the mythology that America was already perfect and great in the 1950s and 60s, when Caucasian, heterosexual, Christian men were the dominant class; and that our country has been rapidly declining since. The Democrats, as well, have become somewhat paralyzed by their own mythology about “demographics are destiny.” I’ll discuss solutions on how to heal through demythologization.
Lastly, I recently had the opportunity to recognize someone who was an influential mentor to me in college; I lost touch with him when I was in the thrall of my political traumatization and extreme partisanship, and he was one of the very first people I reconnected with when I formed Listen. Lead. Unite. In my remarks, I said that he made look easy the very difficult work of effective leadership, by consistently adhering to the following:
1. He never asks others to do what he doesn’t do;
2. He’s always honest, even at the risk of losing relationships and money;
3. He’s principled, patient and flexible, who understands that all of us, sometimes, make mistakes, and that it’s important to learn and grow from those errors.
The above quote from Teddy is one that my friend and mentor embodies, every day.
As always, thank you for uniting with us, as we build communities of healers; and remember, America: heal thyself, by listening, leading and uniting.
